Santuario de San Antonio Parish (SSA) is easily accessible yet it’s rightly secluded from the hustles and bustles of the city making it the perfect ceremony venue for us. This serene place has a magnificent touch of Spanish-era design perfect for the classic wedding we envisioned. Its façade, picturesque intricate altar design and well-maintained iron chandeliers also speak of simple yet classic elegance. This church is cross-shaped and its long aisle is beyond perfect for my bridal march.
SSA is air-conditioned as well so we don’t have to worry about getting married in the hottest of summer. Guests are encouraged to bring a shawl or a coat to keep you warm.

Back when we were starting to plan for our wedding, one of the few things we were sure of was that we didn’t want to have a reception at a hotel. We wanted instead a stand-alone events venue with a garden-feel for our reception.
The Blue Leaf’s (TBL) pavilions are surrounded by Zen-style gardens with refreshing water features. Simply the perfect choice for us! Standing on a secluded area at The Fort, The Blue Leaf is perfect to hold wedding parties. Being the hotel partner of TBL and its proximity to SSA, there was a great chance of booking this hotel. So we did the ocular inspection. The suites are spacious and big enough to accommodate all the suppliers I’ll be having with me on the morning of our wedding. The interiors are of classic elegance. But the heart of this hotel lies at the sunburst sculpture on the ceiling of the main lobby. The warm mood lighting and the dramatic marble staircase also exude elegance. That grand staircase, which is probably one of the most wedding photographed hotel staircase in the country, at once became the deciding factor.
Its central location, rich history, timeless design (and that grand staircase haha) made us choose The Peninsula Manila.

When John Neil and I had our first informal talks about the wedding, we agreed to allocate a big chunk of our wedding budget to food because we want to give our guests the best food that we can offer.
I first saw Passion Cooks’ output through Lara and Marco Alcaraz's wedding backed up by several blogs enthusing the satisfaction of past brides and great customer service from Ms. Maja of Passion Cooks (PC). Add to those their superb venue styling and impeccable eye for detail. PC immediately became my non-negotiable supplier so I immediately (pencil) booked them. Shortly, it didn't come out as a big surprise that PC became the W@W Supplier of the Year that same year : ) Well-deserved!
To date, we had 2 food tastings with PC, and I would say that the food is consistent. Every FT, we'll be going home gastronomically full and satisfied. Not exaggerating but “wala kaming natikman na hindi masarap!” Can’t wait for our guests to sample their menu!

When we were looking for a videographer, I would sift through a videographer's online portfolio and narrow down to those that leave an impression. And Bob Nicolas Wedding Films stood out! His videos outwardly took me to another dimension where I saw genuine emotions and happiness. No single video ever failed to give me a good dosage of goosebumps replete with LSS beats the entire time. His song selection is just awesome!
We were hesitant to get Bob at first as his works come with a hefty price tag. Way above our budget na si Sir Bob but for somebody who can capture those emotions that can't be scripted and tell a beautiful story through videos, the price must be worth it.

Simply because there are no second takes on our wedding day and the last thing we’d want is to be stuck with poorly taken photographs of the most important day of our lives, we chose a professional photographer who can tell a beautiful story through photographs. Aside from our engagement shoot, we also opted to have a pre-wedding film to make us comfortable in front of the camera. We have no concept on this shoot, we just wanted the team to show how happy we are as a couple.. told in a way they do best, cinematically : ) We got Zoombox Wedding Videos to do this at a fraction of their price : )
As we don't see aerial footages everyday and as they're one of the few videographers to employ the technique of aerial videography in the production of wedding films, we asked them to do most of this videography style for us. I'm still amazed as to how they beautifully filmed us from an elevated position! Out of the 7 designers I visited during my couturier-hunting, I felt the "this is it" feeling with Vidal Clayton, Cecilio Abad Couture's Senior Designer. The package is reasonable for me given the inclusions, materials and peace of mind that comes with the Cecilio Abad tag. Plus I get to wear 3 engagement shoot dresses na CA creation din! And since I was the first one to book, I will have the privilege to get dressed up by Clayton :)

I'm very particular with the girls' dresses as I want them to look elegant and classy. Though I still let my entourage choose their own style, I had the say on the fabric, the color, and the length. So there, my girls will be wearing floor-length gowns adorned with swarovski crystals. Moms will have theirs with laces and swarovski too :) I know Amonn will make my girls stunning on our wedding!

Choosing the right wedding band for the reception was a crucial decision for it can make or break the celebrations. The right music at the ceremony and reception will set a warm and comfortable mood for us and our guests.
After watching videos of their performances on YouTube and good feedback from co-W@Wies, we chose Sound Salad, with Diane and Benjie on vocals, to cover the entire music for us.. From the special song as I walk down the aisle (to underscore the marriage rites like the soundtrack of a movie) to the live music at the reception (to get the crowd stoked), oh I'm dreaming now. So excited to work on our song list!

Another thing we want to splurge on are wedding rings as they are intended to be keepsakes of our wedding ceremony and symbols of the unending devotion we feel for each other. And as the wedding bands are special pieces of jewelry we'll enjoy for many years, we made sure that these are of comfort fit and of our personal tastes.
Since gold is cheaper in Middle East (and because I am also moving to Dubai after the wedding), we decided to buy the rings from Dubai's most reputable jeweller -- Liali Jewellery, a Dubai-based jewellery company.
For the bride, we considered matching the wedding ring with the engagement ring. Hence, no identical rings for us. We had it customized by Liali -- a French pavé diamond half-eternity ring in 18k white gold for me while Jon picked a comfort fit wedding ring in 18k white gold with a solitaire diamond. Liali also provided us with international certification from IGI (International Gemological Institute) for our rings' diamonds.

To me, there really is something about receiving a paper wedding invitation in the mail to signify that this is an important event. Today, we could easily send out an e-invite or electronic invitation. And, yes, they are extremely convenient.. but that's just about it. The purpose of a wedding invitation is to let our family and friends know we want them to be with us on our very special day and a paper wedding invitation only respects the magnitude of our very special day.
Since I desire the understated elegance of letterpress, we had our modern invitation letterpressed replete with our monogram letterpress seal on the flap : )

One might think that the missalette is beyond my aim to incorporate our motif into. That's not the case :) I asked Chasing Dreams Events to do the printing and layout for us as the missalette will hold the heart of our wedding ceremony. We opted to honor the wedding mass with missalettes printed so all the attendees of our church wedding can follow the order of the mass. With the missalette, the members of the liturgical entourage will also know when and what portion of the holy mass to do their respective parts.

A video booth is our alternative to the usual photo booth. We are taking our guests’ photo booth experience to a whole different level! While photo booths produce photo strips at weddings, a video booth makes wedding flipbooks souvenirs.
It starts with the props and accessories then guests will make their selections and step in front of the camera. The onsite technicians will then go through the process and help them to make their 7-seconds of fame the absolute best! In about 90 seconds, Flip Productions will turn that video clip into a 60-page flip book. All done, our guests are presented with a keepsake as they watch the photos come to life on their own.

WHAT WE BOTH CONSIDER THE BEST DECISION WE'VE MADE WHILE GETTING READY FOR OUR CHURCH WEDDING? Attending a pre-marriage counseling based on Science, experience and spiritual teachings -- conducted by CEFAM.
We were supposed to be attending the regular two-day live-out seminar-workshop but we opted for the more intensive session -- a one-on-one session for a deeper and more intimate sharing of actual issues confronting us. At first, we thought we'll just go through the seminar without sharing our issues and get the certificate so we can pass to our church and be done with our requirements but its worth was nothing close to a requirement alone! John Neil and I together with our Marriage Counselor, Mrs. Lorie Cipriano, dealt with our issues extensively.
Having faced the most difficult questions a marriage could probably encounter, we know we are fully equipped with the love and respect before entering our married life. We also accepted the fact that our married life will not always be easy but we can make our marriage thrive if we are both willing to put in the effort. After all, A SUCCESSFUL MARRIED LIFE = 101% HARD TEAMWORK :)

Aside from the coffee and tea bar included in our package with Passion Cooks, some "surprise" kiosks and food carts will be open for the guests while waiting for the bride and groom during cocktail hours.
We want to keep our guests happy between the ceremony and reception so we'll be having food carts that will serve mainstream cocktails to satisfy a wide range of palates and ages.

Also, it's only fair to give them decent meals as they would be responsible in making our dream wedding a reality.
